No charges will be filed after a young girl was found wandering by herself at a popular amusement park in South Jersey.
Clementon Police were called to Clementon Park & Splash World Saturday around 8:30 p.m. after employees at the park found a 3-year-old girl who was wandering alone.
The girl was placed in the custody of the NJ Division of Child Protection and Permanency while police searched for her parents.
Police were able to find the parents around 9:30 a.m. Sunday. The parents said they thought their daughter was staying at her grandmother's home, according to investigators.
Detectives then interviewed the girl's grandmother who said the girl was at the park with a group of around 24 people, including children and other adults. When the group left the park, the grandmother thought the girl had left in another car, police said.
The Prosecutor's Office concluded no criminal charges will be filed in the incident. The DCPP will evaluate the girl's well-being before returning her to her parents.
