Officials say tens of thousands of dollars of damage was done at a central Pennsylvania graveyard vandalized over the weekend.
Officials told the Centre Daily Times that more than 50 memorials were vandalized overnight Saturday at Boalsburg Cemetery in Centre County.
Celtic crosses were toppled from their bases, obelisks snapped in half and pushed over and traditional tombstones cracked diagonally right through the name of the deceased.
Dick Stever, owner of Mayes Memorials in Lemont, says some of the memorials are more than a century old and made of uncommon materials.
He estimates damage at more than $100,000 -- and he calls that “a very, very conservative figure.”
