Cape May-Lewes Ferry Closed Due to Wind

There's some bad news for Memorial Day weekend travelers in Delaware.

The Cape May-Lewes Ferry is closed for the day Saturday because of high winds in the area.

Officials announced the cancellation on the ferry website.

β€œOperations cancelled Sat., May 25 due to high winds,” the message reads. β€œWe apologize for the inconvenience.”

More than 11 million vehicles and 34 million passengers have crossed the 17-mile mouth of the Delaware Bay via the Cape May-Lewes Ferry since it first opened on July 1, 1964.
