Camden Activists to Gather for Frank Fulbrook

Camden activists will gather to recall one of their own who died last month of a lung infection.

Local officials are likely to attend Friday's services for Frank Fulbrook, too, but they may not think of him so fondly.

The 64-year-old rail-thin, ponytail-sporting Fulbrook had income as a landlord and sometimes taught courses on the Rutgers campus in the city.
But he devoted much of his attention pushing for what he thought would help a city that is among the most impoverished and crime-ridden in the nation.
He was a regular at city meetings and was unafraid of taking the powerful to court. His challenge a decade ago delayed a partial state takeover of city government.
He also fought for needle exchanges and against curfew laws.
