Boy, 2, Struck by Car in NE Philadelphia; Driver Said He Never Saw the Child

The child ran between two cars in a parking lot on the 9900 block of Haldeman Avenue Monday night and was hit by a vehicle.

A 2-year-old boy is fighting for his life after he was struck by a car in Northeast Philadelphia. 

Police said the driver of the car was traveling through a parking lot in the 9900 block of Haldeman Avenue when the driver felt a bump. When the driver stopped the car, he saw the boy on the ground, with his mother over him.

The driver told police that he never saw the child. The boy was in the parking lot with his mother and three siblings while the mom was unloading the car, police said.

It was also dark and raining at the time.

The boy was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital and is currently in critical condition. 

The incident is under investigation.
