A western Pennsylvania college student was in critical condition after being pinned beneath a car that fell onto him when a jack failed in an off-campus accident.
Indiana Borough police say 19-year-old Nicholas Landman, of Grindstone, was working on the car near the downtown district of the college town about 45 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. That happened sometime after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Landman has bene studying in the sports medicine program of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
He was airlifted to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh where a spokeswoman says Landman was in critical condition Wednesday.
Friends tell police he was working on a car near his off-campus residence when the jack failed. Police say Landman's friends went to get food and found Landman pinned beneath the car about 20 minutes later.
