A car full of teenage girls slammed into a pole on Route 291 Sunday night in Chester. The driver was killed and four other girls were hurt. All but one of the girls is from Chester High School.

The crash happened around 10 p.m. The front seat passenger had to be cut from the car. Another girl was thrown from the car.

One of those teens is in critical condition and the three other survivors are in satisfactory condition.

The driver graduated from Chester High School last year, according 6to Superintendent Greg Thornton. Three of the injured girls are current students. Grief counselors are being brought into the school today.
