Teen Murdered at Bus Stop

Kareem Haynes was shot and killed at a Philadelphia bus stop Tuesday afternoon.

"An all-too familiar story of just senseless killing on the streets of our city," said Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey.

Haynes, 14, was sitting on a fence talking to two girls who were waiting for the bus in the 16-hundred block of 29th Street in Brewerytown. That was around 5 p.m. Two men rode up on bikes and one of them confronted Haynes about a prior altercation and then shot him in the chest, according to police.

The teen walked about a block and collapsed. Police rushed him to Hahnemann University Hospital, where he died.

The two suspects fled the scene in opposite directions. Police are reviewing surveillance video from a nearby store for leads.

"We need the help of the community," Ramsey said of the investigation. "As many people that are usually out here, somebody knows something. Somebody knows exactly who's responsible for this and they need to come forward."

Haynes would have been a freshman this year at Roxborough High School.
