Police Seek Camera Help for Broad Street Race Security

Philadelphia police are asking businesses and residents to help keep an eye on things during this weekend's Broad Street Run.

Police and the city Office of Emergency Management asked nearby businesses and residents who have closed circuit television cameras to ``turn or position any exterior cameras'' toward the street on the day of Sunday's race.

Police also want corporate and private security along the street to be ``extra vigilant.'' Anyone who sees anything out of the ordinary _ including suspicious objects, packages or behavior _ on the street or subway is asked to call 911 immediately.

The 10-mile race on the city's central north-south street has been held since the 1980s and is expected to attract tens of thousands of participants.
