Overnight rains caused pooling on area roads this morning, including the Broad Street ramp to I-95.
A cab driver and his fare found that out the hard way, when their vehicle became swamped by floodwaters.
Around 7 a.m., the vehicle was heading to the airport when it rolled through a large puddle of water at the on-ramp that disabled the cab. The driver said he came upon the pooled water suddenly, and had no idea that the ramp was flooded.
Both driver and passenger were safely rescued by authorities. The ramp was closed for a short time, but was reopened as of 8 a.m.
