A New Jersey state trooper was struck by a passing car Friday on the New Jersey Turnpike.
The trooper was inspecting a crash when he was hit, police said.
The officer was transported to Cooper University Hospital after the accident, where he was awake.
The driver who allegedly struck him stayed on the scene, police said.
The accident occurred in Burlington County, near Exit 5.
