NJ Teen Set Fire to Family Home: Police

A 15-year-old girl has been charged with arson after police say she tried to burn down the house while her family was sleeping

At 2:00 a.m., a Gloucester County family woke up to the sound of fire alarms. Police say a 15-year-old girl tried to burn down her family's home on East Center Street in Clayton, N.J.

Five family members were injured, along with the teenage girl who police say started the fire with gasoline.

Two family members whose injuries are the most severe are being treated at Crozer Burn Center. The others are being cared for at Cooper University Hospital.

A 6-year-old inside the home escaped without any injuries.

After firefighters arrived on the scene they were able to quickly put the fire out.

The 15-year-old girl has been charged with two counts of aggravated arson and six counts of attempted murder.

She was treated for burns on her feet before being sent over to Camden County Juvenile Detention Center.
