Middle School Teacher Inappropriately Touched Students: DA

Former Colonial Middle School students tell police that their eighth grade teacher touched intimate parts of their bodies during mentoring sessions, the district attorney says

A Montgomery County middle school teacher was arrested for allegedly touching students in inappropriate ways during private tutoring sessions, according to the district attorney.

William Schellinger is accused of touching five former students during their eighth grade year at Colonial Middle School, according to District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman. The victims -- all of whom are male – now range in age from 15 to 18.

The former students told police that during mentoring or tutoring sessions, Schellinger would touch the kids on their shoulders and back at first, and then progressed to rubbing their nipples, chest, upper thigh area or buttocks.

Victim No. 2 told police that along with inappropriate touching, Shellinger "took a photo of him in the pool without his shirt on that he later saw displayed on Schellinger's classroom wall," according to the affidavit.

Each victim separately reported Schellinger’s behavior to police, Ferman says.

Schellinger was arraigned on charges of indecent assault and corruption of minors. He was released on $5,000 bail, with a provision that he not contact the victims.

A preliminary hearing for the case is set for Feb. 13.
