New Jersey Man Sentenced for Black Friday Armed Robbery

A man involved in an armed robbery at a northern New Jersey department store on Black Friday in 2012 is now headed to prison.

Federal prosecutors say 36-year-old DaQuaan Vaughn, of Newark, received a 13-year sentence Monday. He and his three co-conspirators will also have to pay restitution to the store.

Vaughn had pleaded guilty to robbery and using a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.

Prosecutors say the robbery occurred at a store in Union on the day after Thanksgiving, one of the busiest shopping days of the year.

Vaughn and another robber restrained a store employee in a bathroom and threatened the worker with a firearm. After the store closed, Vaughn entered the store's cash room, restrained other employees with zip ties and robbed them at gunpoint, stealing more than $50,000.
