Man Arrested in Elderly Woman's Rape: Police

Philadelphia Police made the arrest after a tip call

Ronald Gregory, 24, was arrested Tuesday night in connection with the robbery and attack of a 78-year-old woman. Police say the elderly woman was sleeping inside her home on the 5300 block of Wayne Avenue in Germantown on July 26 when she awoke to a man in her bedroom.

The woman told NBC10 she was raped and the man stole $200 in cash and a $700 money order.

Police say he entered her apartment through an unlocked door.

After the U.S. Marshals announced a $25K reward in the case, they received a call Tuesday evening. They were tipped off about the suspect Ronald Gregory and were told he could be found at the Bartram Village Apartments at 54th and Elmwood in the Southwest section of Philadelphia.

Gregory was arrested and has been charged with rape, burglary, robbery, sexual assault, and indecent assault.
