Lengthy Section of PA Turnpike to Shut Down For Bridge Replacement

The Pennsylvania Turnpike plans to shut down a large section in the western part of the state in both directions for seven hours overnight to replace a bridge, weather permitting.

The Turnpike Commission says it will close between the New Stanton exit, at mile marker 75, and Breezewood, at mile marker 161.

The work to remove the Route 601 bridge at mile marker 110 in Somerset is slated to start at 11 p.m. Saturday and keep the section of turnpike closed down until 6 a.m. Sunday.

The agency is posting information about detours online.
