Caught on Camera: Woman Steals Off-Duty Philadelphia Police Officer's Gun From Northern Liberties Restaurant

Do you recognize this woman?

A gun stolen at Northern Liberties' hippest restaurants belongs to a Philadelphia Police officer.

The female officer was off-duty at the time and eating at Cantina dos Segundos on N 2nd Street around 3:30 p.m. Monday, said Philadelphia Police.

Surveillance video captured the theft of a red backpack containing the officer's personal firearm, a knife and other items.

A woman -- wearing sunglasses on top of her brunette hair, a blue-striped shirt and black shorts -- can be seen getting up from her table outside inside the eatery and going inside while speaking on her cellphone. The woman then can be seen grabbing the backpack off the back of a seat where the off-duty officer inadvertently left the bag.

The suspect then sits back down with her male companion and begins going through the bag as the man appears to look inside to see if anyone is coming. The couple then finishes their meal, the woman puts on the bag and they leave.

Police said the bag contained the officer’s house keys, car keys, reading glasses a knife and a semiautomatic Ruger LCP .380 handgun loaded with six rounds. The gun isn't the officer's service weapon, said police.

Anyone who recognizes the gun thief is asked to contact East Detectives at 215-686-3242/44.
