EMS Responds to 7 Overdoses in Sussex County in 24 Hours

State Police say emergency workers responded to seven overdoses in a 24-hour period beginning Friday in the Seaford and Laurel communities.

Delaware officials are raising concerns after a spike in drug overdoses in western Sussex County.

State Police say emergency workers responded to seven overdoses in a 24-hour period beginning Friday in the Seaford and Laurel communities.

Police say naloxone was used to save people in many cases. Police say at least one of the overdoses was fatal.

Dr. Kara Odom Walker is secretary of the Department of Health and Social Services. She says the spike is "alarming." She is encouraging family members of drug users to convince them to seek treatment or keep naloxone at home.

Police are investigating the overdoses and are encouraging anyone with information to contact authorities.
