Man Charged in Philly Hotel Meth Lab: Police

A Center City hotel was evacuated and a man is in custody after police say they discovered a meth lab inside the building.

Police announce the arrest of a Philadelphia man in connection with an active meth lab found early Saturday inside a Center City hotel.

Around 5:30 a.m., more than 350 people staying inside the Hampton Inn at 13th and Race were evacuated. Investigators say an alarm system detected chemicals from a portable methamphetamine lab on the third floor of the building.

Police say they searched surveillance footage from the hotel to identify Mathew Sinson, 27, from the 300 block of N. 12th St. in Philadelphia, as one of the suspects. Investigators are trying to identify a second suspect from that same video.

The methamphetamine found inside the room had a street value of $70K, according to police.

Sinson will be charged with possession of narcotics with the intent to deliver/distribute, and possession of narcotics with intent to manufacture.
