A federal judge sentenced a Montgomery County man to 20 years in prison after was found guilty of producing and distributing sexually explicit photos of a 2-year-old girl.
Gary Romano, 56, used an online ad on Sitter City, a babysitting website to gain access to a 2-year-old girl, prosecutors said Wednesday.
The Norriston man's October 2009 ad read: "I love kids, reading to them, playing games, doing crafts or making snacks, and other things kids like. Mine are grown now, so I am looking to being kind of a step-grandfather by babysitting to be with kids again."
Prosecutors say that Romano was hired by a parent to babysit for just a couple of hours. In that time, he exploited the girl by taking photos and then sending them to another pedophile in Oregon, prosecutors said.
After his arrest for allegedly possessing child pornography, police found a picture on his computer of him touching a child, according to investigators.
Romano was rearrested and charged with sexual assault for that other incident. He is scheduled for a formal arraignment on March 14.
