Autopsy for Boy in Resort Drowning to Clear up Conflicting Reports

An autopsy for the 6-year-old boy who drowned in an amusement park pool will clarify whether he had a head injury

An autopsy is scheduled Friday in the death of a 6-year-old boy who died after being found under water in a swimming pool at an eastern Pennsylvania amusement park.

Police say George S. Roberts III, of Wilkes-Barre, was found under water on Wednesday afternoon at Knoebels Amusement Resort in Elysburg. Lifeguards tried to resuscitate him, but he later died at a nearby hospital.

There have been conflicting reports about whether the boy injured his head in the Crystal Pool. His stepfather, Daniel Howey, wrote on his Facebook page that Roberts dove into the pool and β€œhit his head on the bottom.”

Park co-owner Buddy Knoebel told the Press Enterprise of Bloomsburg that Roberts was diving into 4- to 5-foot-deep water that is posted with β€œNo Diving” signs.
