3 Hurt in Alleged Hit-and-Run

Police say three people are in the hospital after a hit-and-run crash in the Feltonville section of the city.

Police say an unidentified man was driving a Toyota Sienna minivan around 3 a.m. on Front Street. As he was driving, the man struck a parked, unoccupied minivan and lost control of his vehicle, according to investigators. Police say he then struck another vehicle with four women inside before fleeing the scene.

One woman, who was getting out of her vehicle at the time of the crash, suffered a leg injury. She was taken to Einstein Hospital where she is currently in stable condition. Police also say a female driver was injured and was taken to the hospital for observation. The other two women were not hurt.

Investigators say the alleged hit-and-run driver continued northbound on Front Street for one mile until he reached the Olney section of the city. Police say at some point he got out of his vehicle and began to lie down on the street on Rockland and 5th Streets where he was found by an officer who was passing by.

Police say the man was in “pretty bad shape” and was unable to speak. He was taken to Einstein Hospital. Police have not yet revealed his condition.

Police suspect that the man was driving under the influence though they have not yet confirmed this.
