According to police, speed played a role in the Route 291 crash that killed 18-year-old Lanita Tiller-Droz, reports the Delaware County Daily Times.
"Speed did play a part in this," Chester Accident Investigator Officer Charles Harris told the paper.
Harris also believes that no one in the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt.
The fatal crash happened just before 10 p.m. on the 800 block of Route 291 in Chester.
Tiller-Droz, a 2009 graduate of Chester High School, was pronounced dead on the scene. The four teenage passengers were transported to Crozer-Chester Medical Chester.
Three are in satisfactory condition at the hospital. The fourth is critical.
Chester High students had a scheduled half-day Monday and grief counselors were on hand to talk students through the tragedy.
"It will be a tough several days," says Superintendent of Chester Upland School District Greg Thornton.
