2 Men Rob Store and Shoot Clerk at Delaware Wawa: Police

The Delaware State Police are searching for two men who allegedly robbed a Wawa Store and shot the elderly employee working there.

The two suspects entered the Wawa on New Linden Hill Road in Wilmington around 4:50 a.m. on Sunday morning, according to authorities.

The suspects confronted a 68-year-old male clerk, displayed weapons and demanded money from the register. One suspect then allegedly shot the clerk in the thigh as he was walking to the sales counter.

The suspects reportedly stole an undisclosed amount of money from the register as well as cigarettes before fleeing from the store.

As the suspects made their escape, they spotted a 58-year-old man from Millsboro standing outside of the store by his car.

The suspects fired shots at the man, striking his vehicle, according to investigators. The man was not injured. The suspects then fled through the parking lot.

The store clerk was transported to the Christiana Hospital where he was treated and released.

The first suspect is described as a male between 5’8” and 5’10” tall with an average build. He was last seen wearing a facemask, red hooded sweatshirt, dark gloves, blue jeans and tan boots. He was armed with a dark handgun.

The second suspect was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, light gloves and was also armed with a handgun.

Wawa is offering a $5000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrators responsible.
