Pete Wentz Prepping Comic Book Series

Fall Out Boy rocker Pete Wentz is trying his hand at the world of comic books, MTV News reported on Thursday.

The bassist reportedly conceived the mini-series "Fall Out Toyworks" with Los Angeles designer Darren Romanelli and will launch it in September via publisher Image Comics.

Though Pete will hand off the writing duties to comics scribe Brett Lewis, he told the site he has big plans for the series' fantasy world.

"Me and Darren came up with the idea of creating … a world around [Fall Out Boy song] 'Tiffany Blews,'" he said. "It's more than a comic too. In the end, it will be a graphic novel, clothing, Web site and possible toys themselves."

The five-issue series will follow the adventures of what MTV calls "a mysterious toymaker, a cyborg gal named Tiffy and a kid in a bear suit."

He's not the only alt-rocker in recent years to branch out into the genre. My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way won the prestigious Eisner award for his "The Umbrella Academy," a six-issue series he wrote for Dark Horse Comics beginning in 2007. He's currently working on a second series, "Umbrella Academy: Dallas."
