Flyers prospect Samuel Dove-McFalls is a free agent and can re-enter the NHL draft.

The Flyers had until 5 p.m. Thursday to sign the fourth-round pick (98th overall) from the 2015 NHL draft, yet elected to not extend an offer to the 20-year-old forward.

Dove-McFalls, who was the only top-100 player from his draft class still unsigned, has spent the last four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League at Saint John, where his offensive production was spotty.

He had a strong rebound campaign in 2016-17 at Saint John, but apparently, it didn't impress the organization enough. Dove-McFalls scored 17 goals with 53 points in 65 games with the Sea Dogs.

His previous year saw him limited to just 29 games in the "Q" because of right knee surgery. His stats nose-dived to five goals and 12 points.

Dove-McFalls had shown the ability to transition from center to wing. That's no small accomplishment within the Flyers' organization these days because its system is top-heavy with centermen and in need of wingers.

Which is one huge reason why left wing Oskar Lindblom, signed earlier this week by the Flyers, is so critical to their NHL roster. The Flyers are weak on the left side in terms of scoring ability.

Dove-McFalls compiled 42 goals and 67 assists for 109 points in 212 games during his four seasons at Saint John. He had no points this year in four games at the Memorial Cup.
