National League Champs Has a “Ring” to It

Phillies get NL Champion rings

The Phillies brought back pomp and circumstance to Citizens Bank Park Thursday as they received their 2009 National League Champion rings.

We know what you’re thinking -- come on a ring ceremony for a team that didn’t win it all?

Even if Thursday’s ceremony didn’t have the same feel as the World Series ring event last season, it was still be a thrill for fans and players.

The rings don't compare to the 14-karat white gold, 103-diamond World Champs bling from last season. But they still feature 14-carat white gold with the Phillies "P" in the middle of a ruby-laid baseball diamond and two larger rubies to represent the back-to-back NL Championships.

Also, departed NL Champs like Cliff Lee or Pedro Martinez didn't return for the ceremony like Pat Burrell did in 2009.

Instead the ceremony served as a nice reward for a good season and a nice treat for Phillies fans to show their team some love.

And, next year lets hope they go back to World Champ rings again.
