Eagles to Honor Johnson, Cancel Practices

There will be no training camp practices in Lehigh Friday, August 7 as the Eagles step away from football to remember former Defensive Coordinator Jim Johnson.

There will be no training camp practices in Lehigh Friday, August 7 as the Eagles step away from football to remember former Defensive Coordinator Jim Johnson.

Johnson died Tuesday after a courageous battle with cancer.

A private memorial service for Johnson will be held next Friday at Lincoln Financial Field. The service will be invitation only at request of the family.

In reverence to Johnson, Head Coach Andy Reid canceled both Eagles’ practices scheduled for that day so that he and the players can attend the service.

A cancer research fund was set up in Johnson’s memory at Penn Medicine’s Abramson Center, said the Eagles.
