Eagles running back Brian Westbrook flew away from the coup to visit some concussion specialists across the state.

Philadelphia Eagles head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder confirmed the visits.

“Westbrook will visit two concussion specialists on Wednesday in Pittsburgh, Pa.,” said Burkholder.

“The Eagles will first have Westbrook consult with neuropsychologist Mark Lovell. Following that visit Westbrook and Lovell will consult with neurosurgeon Joseph Maroon.  Dr. Lovell has been consulting with the Eagles’ medical staff on Westbrook’s recovery from the first concussion during the past three weeks.”

Westbrook suffered his second concussion of the season in the second half of Sunday's 31-23 loss at San Diego. He had returned for the Chargers game after being sidelined two weeks by a concussion he suffered during Week 7 at Washington.

It’s good to see that the Eagles and Westbrook are taking this whole head injury thing seriously. Of course it goes without saying that Westbrook is out indefinitely.

How long indefinitely lasts could be determined by the Pittsburgh docs’ opinions of Westbrook’s condition.

He was already ruled out for the Bears game on Sunday Night Football, according to Pro Football Talk.
