Newly appointed general manager Ruben Amaro said there were a few key aspects the Phillies would target in the off-season.  So far they haven’t exactly provided anything worthy of a good old-fashioned water cooler conversation.

With several burning questions lingering ‘Is Pat Burrell coming back?’ ‘Who will take over left?’ 'How will the Phillies bolster their pitching?’, the last thing the fans, or at least the billion new fans Charlie Manuel and Co. now have, want to talk about is anything but player acquisitions.

But, that’s what they will have to settle for now as Amaro made his most recent announcement.  Scott Proefrock has been named assistant GM, a spot Amaro held for nearly a decade.

The news came Monday that the former Tampa Bay “Devil” Rays assistant GM will complete a now full rotation in the Phillies front office.

Proefrock spent 11 years in the lowly Rays organization leaving just before their World Series rival. He has spent the last three seasons as director of baseball administration in Baltimore.

Now his streak of underachieving and dismal baseball organizations is over, at least for now, as Proefrock joins Chuck LaMar and Benny Looper as the team’s assistant GMs.

LaMar and Proefrock have worked together three different times with Proefrock serving as LaMar’s assistant GM with the Devil Rays.

Now that the front office has a loaded starting lineup, let the real fun begin!
