Targeted Teen Dies in West Philadelphia Shooting: Police

Two gunman appeared to target a teenager who died after being shot in the face and body in the shadow of SEPTA's Market-Frankford El train overnight.

The 17-year-old boy was standing on a corner of 60th and Market streets in west Philadelphia around 12:15 a.m. Monday when two men -- one in dark clothing and wearing a mask -- opened fire, said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small.

Investigators believe the boy, who was from north Philadelphia, was likely targeted, said Small. It remained unclear what the victim was doing in west Philadelphia at that hour.

He died on the scene. At least 11 shots were fired, said police.

Witnesses told officers that a masked man dressed in all dark clothing fled the area in a white SUV. Bullets were also fired from a second gun, said police.

Investigators reviewed surveillance cameras in the area to see if any captured video of the shooting or the suspect's escape. [[238427591, C]]
