More than 1,000 janitors rallied in Center City today to call for a $15 an hour wage. They are now in contract negotiations with Philadelphia building managers.
Janitors from up and down the East Coast marched through Center City and rallied in Love Park.
"You will not take our money, you will not take our pension, you will not take our healthcare benefits away from us or our good jobs," said Juanita Acree, who's been a janitor for 29 years.
Services Employees International Union leader Hector Figueroa says they will shut buildings down if compromise cannot be reached.
"We want to win a minimum wage of $15 an hour we need to win the union, we need to raise America with good jobs," he said.
Union officials say out of state members are watching what happens in Philadelphia before their negotiations start.
