iPhone 6 Delay? Pope's Visit to Impact UPS Service in Northeast

One thing may stand between you and a new iPhone 6S or other long-awaited package this week: the Pope.

Pope Francis' visit to the U.S. on Thursday and Friday will impact UPS service in New York City, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., the package delivery company said.

UPS is implementing contingency plans to deal with an increase in security in the three U.S. cities that Francis will visit. No pickups and deliveries will be available in some ZIP codes for select days.

Service will be disrupted in New York City on Thursday and Friday, when Francis is scheduled to visit St. Patrick's Cathedral, the United Nations, the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, and Madison Square Garden, among other stops.

Washington D.C. will see service disruptions on Thursday and Friday, and Philadelphia, on Friday and Saturday.

UPS said its Service Guarantee does not apply when transportation networks are disrupted "due to events of this nature."

UPS customers can track their packages and be notified by email when the status of their package changes by visiting UPS.com. UPS also has a papal visit update page.

Dozens of traffic changes and street closures are being implemented for Pope Francis' visit. Authorities encourage all New Yorkers and visitors to rely on public transportation.
