Cop Dies of Self-Inflicted Gunshot, Responding Officer Has Heart Attack

Another officer responding to the scene suffered a heart attack

A police officer died Friday morning in Upper Southampton from a self-inflicted gunshot would, authorities say.

The Bucks County officer was found dead near the intersection of Bristol Avenue and Churchville Road at about 9 a.m.

The officer was found lying next to his patrol car in the parking lot of a church. Sources tell NBC Philadelphia that the officer was found next to the Church of Christ.

One of the officers who responded to the scene had a heart attack and was brought to St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, authorities say.

Authorities have not yet released the deceased officer’s name. Police are investigating the incident.
