Police Make Arrest in Delco Mom's Murder

25-year-old found Tuesday with throat slashed

A man has been arrested for allegedly beating and then murdering a Delaware County mom.

Dana Felts was found lying inside her Taylor Street home in Upper Chichester Township, Pa. by an aunt Tuesday night, police said. The 24-year-old mother of two's throat had been slashed.

Walter Martin, 35, was charged Friday with allegedly committing the crime, police said.

Martin, a friend of Felts, told police he visited the woman with his girlfriend Monday night to buy drugs.

The two then got into an argument before Martin allegedly grabbed a baseball bat and hit Felts, police said. The man then used a razor to cut Felts' throat, according to authorities.

Martin and his girlfriend then stole the drugs and several thousands of dollars in cash Felts recently won at Harrah's Chester casino before fleeing, investigators say.

Authorities say the couple was arrested Monday night as suspects in an unrelated crime. Martin was still in custody when investigators realized he matched the description of a man said to be seen leaving Felts house around the time of the murder, authorities say.

Martin then confessed to the crimes during interrogations, police said. Much of the money alleged to have been stolen was found in Martin's girlfriend's purse.

He is charged with 1st Degree and 2nd Degree Murder, Aggravated Assault and related offenses.

The unidentified girlfriend was also arrested and charged with theft.
