Police Identify Two Slain During Violent Five-Hour Stretch of 10 Shootings in Philadelphia

The man who died over the weekend when someone opened fire on him as he pumped gas into his motorcycle at a Southwest Philadelphia gas station resided in Northeast Philadelphia's Tacony neighborhood.

Police on Monday identified the victim in that shooting, one of 10 in a five-hour span Saturday night into Sunday morning in Philadelphia, as 39-year-old Robert Ostiguin, of Hegerman Street near Magee Avenue. Officers who responded to the shooting, at the BP station on Essington Avenue near 66th Street in Eastwick, found Ostiguin leaned up against his motorcycle, suffering from several gunshot wounds.

Medics pronounced Ostiguin dead at the scene just after 2 a.m. Sunday. Police said Monday they still don't know who killed Ostiguin or why.

Police on Monday also identified a Kensington man shot to death on his block, and said it was an argument that led to his slaying.

Tyrell Boggs, 29, apparently got into an argument on his block of Braddock Street near Schiller shortly after midnight, leading someone to shoot him to death, according to police.

Boggs died at the scene. Police said they don't yet know who shot him.
