Pedestrian Killed After Being Hit by Teen Driver in Delaware

Delaware State Police say they're investigating the death of a female pedestrian who was hit by a car on U.S. 13 near New Castle.

Master Cpl. Gary Fournier says in a statement that the victim was trying to cross the southbound lanes of the highway at Llangollen Boulevard when she was struck by a Hyundai Sonata at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

Fournier says the victim was crossing against a red light near a marked crosswalk.

He says the 18-year-old female driver had a solid green light and was following another vehicle that had swerved to avoid the pedestrian.

Fournier says police are withholding the victim's name pending notification of relatives.
