A Pennsylvania man charged in the beating that killed his mother and injured his father will undergo a mental health evaluation.
A district judge on Tuesday ordered 51-year-old Michael Lindgren to stand trial in the attack that killed 77-year-old Shirley Lindgren and her 78-year-old husband, John, inside their Bethlehem home.
Police say Michael Lindgren told investigators who interviewed him after the attack that he "had to kill them" and his parents "took everything" from him.
Bethlehem police say Michael Lindgren had come to their station shortly before the attack seeking help for an unspecified problem, but left abruptly.
Defense attorneys say their client will undergo a mental health evaluation.
