Both Suspects in Deadly Delaware Home Invasion in Custody

Both suspects in a Delaware home invasion that left a man and a teenage girl, who police say came to the scene with the suspects are now in police custody.

Saleem Shabazz, 21, and Matthew Harrington, 23, both of Philadelphia, allegedly entered a home on the 1400 block of John Clark Road in Dover, Delaware, around 1:40 a.m. October 17.

A woman told police one of the suspects shot her father, later identified as Clifton Leager, 52, who lived at the home, during a struggle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Leager’s son, who was inside the home at the time, was also shot during the altercation but managed to chase after the suspects as they fled. Leager’s son was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released.

During the chase, more shots were fired and a teen, identified by state police as 18-year-old Haley Henwood, of Philadelphia, was struck. Henwood was taken to the hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead. Investigators said Henwood accompanied Shabazz and Harrington to the home.

On Friday, Police announced Shabazz was captured by police in Norristown and faced murder, armed robbery and related charges.

Harrington turned himself in to Buckingham Township Police in Bucks County earlier in the week.
