A Philadelphia police officer is home recuperating after being hit by a car overnight.
Officer John Keen, Jr. was struck before 2 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of police headquarters at 7th and Race streets.
Police officer Tanya Little says she had asked the driver in a green minivan to leave the parking lot several times before the driver said he had a gun and turned the vehicle on Keen, police said.
Little says a squad car arrived as backup and pulled up behind the minivan, but the driver backed into the car, then went forward and pinned King against a concrete pillar.
31-year-old Clifford Branch fled but was quickly arrested near the scene. Police have not said whether Branch was under the influence.
Police said they planned to file aggravated assault charges.
