The man charged in the killing of a Philadelphia police officer has been released from the hospital and is in prison.

Rasheed Scruggs is accused of shooting to death 25-year-old Officer John Pawlowski.

Scruggs, who is 33, was critically wounded during the shootout with police. He has been hospitalized since the shooting on Feb. 13.

Police say Scruggs was trying to rob a cab driver when Pawlowski arrived at the scene. Police say Scruggs fired several shots from a gun inside his jacket.
