Museum Cancels New Year's Eve Event

The Delaware Art Museum has canceled its annual New Year's Eve party after not enough tickets were sold.

The News Journal reports museum officials notified ticket holders Friday that they would receive refunds. This would have been the third year for the party.

The event drew more than 250 people last year. Spokeswoman Jessica Jenkins says many people purchased tickets at the door last year, but the museum didn't receive enough pre-registrations this year. Fewer than 100 tickets were sold. Jenkins says the museum is disappointed about canceling.

The museum increased ticket prices to $75 for members and $100 for non-members. It included an open bar, live music and late-night snacks as guests browsed the museum's art collection. Last year, tickets were $65 for members and $75 for non-members.
