Man Stabbed After Trying to Stop Alleged Car Thief

A homeless man is facing charges after he allegedly stabbed a man who tried to stop him from breaking into cars in a Bensalem neighborhood.

Bensalem Police charged Michael Bell, 45, with aggravated assault, weapons offenses, and related charges for assaulting and stabbing a 33 year-old Bensalem man.

Police say the alleged victim saw Bell attempting to break into several cars Monday along Mechanicsville Road. Police say as the man tried to stop Bell he was stabbed in the abdomen with a large knife. Bell ran from the scene.

The following day police saw Bell walking in the Creekside Apartment complex and arrested him. Bell later admitted to the crime. He is being held on $100,000 bail.

The victim remains in the hospital and is listed in stable condition, according to police.
