A kitten that was set afire in Philadelphia earlier this year has a new home in New Jersey.
A woman in Essex County adopted “Justin” last month.
She tells The Star-Ledger of Newark she doesn't want her name or town to be released.
“He has a beautiful fur coat,” said his owner. “It all came back, and it’s as soft as can be. “It was love at first sight,” she said. “I know I’m very honored – fortunate – privileged. And I don’t take that lightly,” the woman told the paper.
The kitten was 4 to 5 weeks old when he suffered burns over more than a third of its body, mostly on its head and back when he was found in Philadelphia's Kensington section in April.
He underwent surgery to remove the burned and scarred skin.
Officials are still offering a $6,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who doused the kitten with an accelerant and lit him on fire at the intersection of F and Clearfield streets in Philadelphia April 25.
