Kidnapped 2-Year-Old Found Alone, Safe

An Amber Alert was issued early Wednesday morning after the boy was taken by three men.

A toddler is safe in the hospital after several men assaulted his father and snatched the boy from his dad's Upper Dublin home.

Police say that the child was abducted by three armed men around 10 p.m. Tuesday.

They tell NBC10's Jesse Gary that the men paid a visit to Tyrone Smith's house on the 400 block of Lincoln Drive West and that's where they physically assaulted the man.

Following the assault, the suspects kidnapped his son, 2-year-old Tymire Dior Smith, according to investigators.

Investigators say the men then stole the father's rental car, a dark-colored Chrysler 300, and drove off with the toddler.

An Amber Alert was issued for the boy just before 2 a.m. Wednesday.

Friends tell NBC10 that the suspects called the boy's family shortly after abducting Tymire demanding a large amount of money. They say the kidnappers called back a second time and the child was crying.

Tymire was found wandering around 66th and Malvern in Overbrook just after 4 a.m.

He was taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where he is being evaluated. Upper Dublin Police say he is in good condition.

The suspects remain on the loose. The license plate number of the Chrysler they were last seen in is HYJ-6836.

Police don't believe this was a random crime and sources tell NBC10 there was likely some sort of familiarity between the gunman and the child's father.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
