Hot Air Balloon Gets Caught in Power Lines, 3 People Shocked

Three people are recovering after a hot air balloon accident in Lancaster County.

Police say 55-year-old Robert Fisher of Honey Brook, Pennsylvania was flying a hot air balloon Saturday night in Earl Township. Robert Spencer, 53, of Eldersburg, Maryland and Melyndia Davis, 48, of Sykesville, Maryland were the two passengers inside.

The hot air balloon landed safely in a field off of the 600 block of North Railroad Avenue at 7:50 p.m. As the air was being let out of the balloon, the top of it blew over on top of power lines causing the three victims to be shocked.

All three victims suffered burns. While Fisher remained conscious, Spencer was unresponsive and Davis went into cardiac arrest. A bystander performed CPR on Davis until emergency responders arrived.

The victims were all taken to Lancaster General Hospital and then transferred to Chester Crozer Hospital. Fisher and Spencer are in stable condition while Davis is in critical but stable condition.

The FAA continues to investigate the accident.
