Evacuations were underway Wednesday morning at the Inlet Towers in Atlantic City, N.J. as a fire on one of the upper floors went to three alarms.

A high-rise fire spread to three alarms at the Inlet Towers in Atlantic City, N.J. on Wednesday.

It's an assisted-living facility on New Hampshire Avenue that primarily houses elderly residents.

The fire started around 10:30 a.m.

Rescue crews evacuated 149 residents from the 14-story building. Six people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and one was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
