Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett avoided answering reporter questions Thursday about the FBI and police investitgation into his son-in-law, but he did issue a brief statement.

Corbett's son-in-law is Gerold Gibson, a narcotics officer with the Philadelphia police force. He's under investigation by the feds and Philly's Internal Affairs Unit. Sources tell NBC10's Nefertiti Jaquez that Gibson was caught on hidden camera, taking money out of a car he was told to search. What Gibson didn't know, according to sources, is that that the money was planted in the car by investigators.

“I was surprised and concerned to learn about the allegations regarding my son-in-law Gerold Gibson," Corbett said in his statement. "Susan and I continue to give our family our love and support.”

Gibson (pictured above right) was placed on administrative leave, according to sources.

Earlier in the night, we tried to get access to the Governor during an event at the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia, but Corbett was rushed off stage by his staff.

John McNesby with the The Fraternal Order of Police opted not to weigh in on the case. He says he'll comment once he knows the outcome of the investigation.
