Special Victims Unit investigators put out a description this morning of a gunman who they say attacked and sexually assaulted a woman as she walked along a city street over the weekend.
A 22-year-old woman told Philadelphia Police that a man grabbed her as she walked along the 3900 block of Girard Avenue in the Parkside section of the city around 9:50 p.m. Sunday.
The woman told authorities that the man came out of a vacant property before pointing a semi-automatic handgun at the woman and pushing her behind the property. The man then physically and sexually assaulted the woman before running off with her cell phone, according to police.
Police described the man as being in his late 30s to early 40s, standing around 5-foot-9-inches tall with an average build and dark complexion. He had a beard and work dark clothes, black gloves and a skull cap.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Philadelphia Police SVU.
