Funeral Held for Man Robbed While Dying in ER

A funeral is being held Saturday morning in Philadelphia for a man whose watch was stolen as he was dying in a hospital emergency room.

Joaquin Rivera, 63, is remembered as a caring mentor.

Video shows no one attended to Rivera for about 50 minutes after he passed out. He had walked himself to Aria Health in Frankford late Nov. 28 with pain in his arm and abdomen.

After he passed out, two men and a woman allegedly took his watch. Two suspects have been charged in the theft.

Rivera was a counselor at Olney High School. He also was a musician known as an advocate for Puerto Rican folk arts in Philadelphia.

He recently wrote and recorded "Philadelphia, I Choose to Stay Here" -- a protest song about a neighborhood's fight to keep the city from taking homes for urban removal.
